SAIC is seeking an experienced, results–oriented, mission-driven Data Engineer. We are looking for a talented, innovative, and experienced individual to support the effort to increase the speed of data delivery in the support of national security objectives. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding executing IT systems and supporting transformations utilizing an agile framework that promotes collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. This is high visibility program, and we are seeking a results-oriented self-starter.

As a Data Engineer work with a fast-paced team that acquires, controls, and catalogs large scale, complex datasets for our customer’s mission. The position requires a highly detail-oriented individual who understands the complexities of data movement and curation. You will also be responsible for analyzing the customer’s current dataset catalog to identify areas of weakness, which will then drive additional targeted dataset acquisition, and cataloging technologies as appropriate. You will be part of a team responsible for transforming the customers’ data ecosystem with strategies that keep them mission focused and mission informed.

The role requires a driven individual who will stay current and experiment with state-of-the art Data Science and AI/ML technologies, ability and need to understand and support pathfinder mission to mature a data management policy. Initial efforts will involve pursuing authoritative data sources and setting up data pipelines into tools and data analytic environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with data stewards, data custodians, and data managers on data collection methods, data management processes/capabilities, and data policy/governance implementation
  • Establish processes and methods to acquire, store, investigate, and manage data
  • Establish processes to improve data quality and efficiency
  • Evaluate data management systems to improve operational procedures
  • Organize, implement, and enforce correct data collection policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to automate data lifecycle processes
  • Gather raw data and convert to standardized formats to improve data access and analysis
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems as appropriate to the data management lifecycle
  • Perform data inventory and cataloging to ensure insight into data holdings, identify gaps, prioritize collection/processing, and administer data policy/governance
  • Respond to data calls, reporting tasks, and internal/external requirements tasking
  • Collaborate with other data engineers and data scientists on projects

 

Qualifications

Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.

Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to attain a TS/SCI (U.S. Citizenship is required).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to identify opportunities for AI integration and develop/deploy AI solutions.
  • Experience using Advana’s toolset (Databricks, Qlik, Gamechanger, etc.) or Advana itself is a bonus
  • Experience with Maven Smart Systems or Palantir Foundry.
  • Experience performing full lifecycle data management in large-scale data ecosystems in on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Experience implementing and establishing data ownership and data stewardship
  • Experience in data cataloging and metadata management
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with technical and non-technical personnel and all levels of management and staff
  • Experience utilizing data analytics to enable organizational learning and data-driven decisions
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies
  • Experience programming in Python, SQL, C++ a
