SAIC is seeking a Web Developer who will support the Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) in developing and maintaining the EMC website. 

Note: The work location is at the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP) in College Park, MD.  This hybrid role does offer the ability to work from home 2-3 days per week.

Duties:

  • Design, develop, re-organize, and maintain the EMC website which will serve as a content management and a communication tool to facilitate collaboration with the research community and inform the users and stakeholders about product performance and updates. 
  • Support the re-organization of current websites and designing and developing new capabilities to serve EMC developers and the national numerical weather prediction community including researchers, users and stakeholders to efficiently disseminate information content for the customers.
  • Develop requirements for the EMC website based on input from the internal and external stakeholders
  • Restructure the current EMC website based on functions and needs of the website content
  • Migrate the content of the current website into a cloud based framework
  • Sustain and maintain the website using formal configuration management practices and automation tools
  • Perform the functions of the job in a high-quality, independent and collaborative way, assisting in managing projects, and developing and applying innovative methods for the primary work areas below.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience    
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder with the ability to obtain a NACI clearance.  For the Green Card holder to qualify for the clearance they must have lived in the US for a minimum 3 years prior to application.  An EAD is not accepted.
  • 2 years of professional web development experience
  • Experience with HTML5, PHP, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Experience in working with cloud resources
  • Ability to work independently and in the team environment
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating effectively with scientists of diverse backgrounds on technical details of the work plan and to present results accurately and clearly in both oral and written form
  • Initiative to work on complex problems and solve problems creatively
  • Demonstrated skill in performing tasks requiring organization and attention to detail
