Position Summary: 

The incumbent works with project stakeholders to ensure successful completion of tasks by applying professional principles, practices and techniques to lead project teams and control project schedule. This role works with other project managers to assign projects and manage customer satisfaction, definition planning, monitoring and other aspects of the project.

 

Salary Range: 

 

Rate    Minimum  $91,400.00    Maximum  $164,800.00

Effectively interfaces with key stakeholders to facilitate decisions and work that affect applications and patient care practices.  Administers work unit policies and procedures as needed to ensure consistency with Medical Center practice.  Assesses staff competency in identifying and managing operational needs.

IS:  Develops, implements, and evaluates the overall strategy for effective testing of new and upgrade application software implementations.  Determines necessary technical preparation for testing of software and plans the subsequent coding or programming required. Conducts testing at specified stages of production and installation, ensuring 100% test coverage and traceability to user requirements.  Writes reports of test results and ensures accurate documentation of user requirements, test cases, test cycles, test results, software problems, and change control artifacts.

Maintains technical knowledge of system standards related to the project and the IS protocols.  Maintain documentation on assignments, competency, and performance proficiency.  Oversees procedures for accurate and timely delivery of services.  Provides consultation to areas outside the department where work unit procedures are performed.  Provides direction for personnel, prioritizing and facilitating workflow to ensure efficient delivery of services.  Serves as a resource person to resolve problems as they occur in the work unit.

IS: Translates business requirements into reports, templates and analytical views as necessary to meet the needs of end users and business analysts. Develops and tests data visualizations and reports.  Troubleshoots report related problems, as well as hardware and software technical issues to help ensure a stable, robust IS environment.

IS:  Complies with all IS policies, procedures and standards, including project management tools/methodologies, Network/Systems/Workstation Security, HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations associated with Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI).  Maintains technical knowledge of system standards related to the project and the IS protocols.  Maintains knowledge of the healthcare information systems industry, emerging technologies, and relevant laws and regulations to insure appropriate decision making throughout the implementation process.

IS:  Serves as single point of contact for application projects and takes projects from original concept through final implementation.  Manages all phases of multiple large and small projects to ensure achievement of objectives, timetables, budget and overall success. Oversees daily review and spot-check of work, verifying accuracy and completeness.  Oversees procedures for accurate and timely delivery of services.  Undertakes ad-hoc assignments as required to react quickly and positively to new or emergent situations.   Provides consultation to areas outside the department where work unit procedures are performed.  Provides direction for personnel, prioritizing and facilitating workflow to ensure efficient delivery of services.

Required Qualifications:

Familiarity with Software Change, Configuration Management, and Build Processes in a complex environment

Previous project management / lead experience

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to take creative and abstract concepts and produce a solid application framework

Ability to discover and define technical requirements and their relationship to functional requirements and to determine the adequacy of documented requirements for architecture definition

Knowledge in data warehouses, data marts, and other business intelligence concepts

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Demonstrated ability in determining how technology can be applied to meet business needs

Demonstrated ability in recommending frameworks and/or classes for reuse

Must be willing and able to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed

Minimum of 5 years working in an IT department as a project manager

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or other technical discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a technical or business discipline

Experience working in an academic hospital IT department

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Understanding of HIPAA regulations and safeguarding protected health information (PHI)
